Lopez Market established its roots in 1954 the first store opened in Escondido, CA on 201 S. Pine Street in Escondido, California.  Since then Lopez Market has become a staple in Escondido and now in Temecula, California.  Although the original store is no longer there but the names lives on in a new store on El Norte Parkway in Escondido.  The second store is located in Temecula, California Front Street in Old Town.

In 1974 Miguel Ruiz (originally from Colima, Mexico) purchased the store on S. Pine St.  Miguel transformed the store into a staple in the small city (back then) of Escondido, CA.  Lopez Market was geared toward providing the Latin consumer with canned foods, tortillas, fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh meats with cuts that Latinos know well and enjoy.  Carne and Pollo Asado is a staple.  Miguel then opened another Escondido store on El Norte Parkway in 1996.  He then open another in 2001 in Temecula, CA on Front Street.
